Stelline

Stelline

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and these Stelline are the perfect snowflake addition to your dessert table! – submitted by Kitchen Angel   Ingredients   1 packet Bacio d’Alassio baking mix 1 packet Pearl Sugar 4 extra-large or jumbo egg whites   Method   1.  Preheat your oven to 175oC.  Line a tray with baking paper. 2.  Empty the contents of the baking mix into a bowl.  Add in the egg whites and mix well, making sure all lumps are out of the mix.  The moisture should be smooth and moist. 3.  Place the mix into a piping bag with a medium size star shaped nozzle (around 9mm is perfect).   Pipe stars onto the baking tray.  For whatever size star you choose, remember to keep the size all roughly the same on the tray to ensure even cooking. 4.  Sprinkle the biscuits with the pearl sugar. 5.  Bake at 190oC for 15 minutes, or until firm to touch.     Note:   These biscuits have a beautiful brownie flavour and make the perfect and easy dessert for any occasion, all year round.  As these biscuits are so pretty, we’ve turned the basic ingredients into a Stelline Gift Pack which you can purchase as a gift for anyone who needs a sprinkle of love in their life.

fancy some morning tea?

fancy some morning tea?

We’re pleased to announce that we have reached yet another key milestone on the Kitchen Angel journey this week.  In fact we were successful in achieving it sooner than expected!    Drum roll please ….   We’ve secured a flagship store in Brisbane where the Kitchen Angel product range will be sold direct, where we will hold baking demonstrations and of course, have the obligatory coffee bar.    We’re so excited and can’t wait to share all of the details with you.  But until then, we thought we’d throw in a little teaser.  Rather than tell you where it is, we thought we’d run a competition to see if you can guess where our store will be.  Here are your clues:   1.  It’s approximately 3 km from the Brisbane CBD 2.  We’re in a commercial precinct 3.  Steinway, Boston & Essex – we love the sound of them   The first person to guess the exact location (street number, name and suburb) will win a free morning tea for 2 people at our new store.  Simply add your answer as a comment to this blog post.    This competition is open to Brisbane residents only (unless you are willing to donate your prize to a family, friend or colleague who lives in Brisbane) and does not include the cost of travel.   You can enter this competition once daily.  This competition ends at midnight AEST on Wednesday, 6th June.  The winner will be announced on Facebook and will be contacted via email.   So while Mario is elbow deep in the design and construct phase, he’s got the rest of us scouring  food providores, magazines and …

to market, to market to buy a fat pig

to market, to market to buy a fat pig

… well maybe not a fat pig, but certainly lots of other goodies.  I love a good market and Brisbane certainly doesn’t disappoint.  No matter where you live or what your shopping list contains, there’s certain to be a market somewhere, sometime, each month in Brisbane, just for you.   As for this weekend, I’ve got a couple of markets on my radar.  Firstly I’ll be heading to the Northey Street Organic market on Sunday morning to grab some autumn fresh fruit and veg for home.  Apples, grapes, melon, beets, green beans and  eggplant.  That little rainbow will take pride of place on my kitchen counter.  Hopefully my favourite coffee cart and chocolate stand will be there so I can take a few moments out for myself to sit and savour two of my favourite things while the hive of activity continues around me.  Aaahh, it really is those little moments of time that I truly love. That first sip of a morning coffee.  A bittersweet morsel of chocolate as it melts on your tongue.  And don’t get me started on lavender dark chocolate, OMG that seriously has to be the best thing since slice bread.   Sorry … did I just get sidetracked by coffee and chocolate there?   Mmmm, not surprised, it happens often.  Where was I?   Oh yeah, back to my market day.  So after I’ve unpacked my fruit and veg I’m going to pop in to see my boss and colleagues at the Boutique Markets in the city.  The Boutique Markets is a great place to get your fix of quality, local made fashion, accessories, homewares and food.  I have …
